Polyvinyl Butyral Resin, commonly known as PVB resin, is a synthetic polymer produced through the reaction of polyvinyl alcohol with butyraldehyde in the presence of an acid catalyst. The chemical structure of PVB contains hydroxyl groups, butyral groups, and residual acetate groups, with the ratio of these functional groups determining the resin’s specific properties. The manufacturing process involves acetalizing polyvinyl alcohol with butyraldehyde, followed by washing, drying, and milling to achieve the desired particle size and purity specifications.
