Redox is very proud to distribute Dow’s range of ethanolamines – including Monoethanolamine (MEA), Diethanolamine (DEA) and Triethanolamine (TEA) in Australia.

Ethanolamines are a highly versatile family of organic chemical compounds and as such are used across a vastly diverse array of industries including:

  • Personal Care Products: Ethanolamines , particularly Triethanolamine (TEA) is an excellent emulsifier for oil in water, so gel-type hand cleaners, aerosol shave creams and hand and body wash lotions are but a few the consumer products formulated with (TEA).
  • Gas Sweetening: Monoethanolamine (MEA) and diethanolamine (DEA) are commonly used to remove contaminants such as carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide from synthesis and liquid gas streams. Engineering companies can also provide individually designed plants or standard packaged units that can be installed wherever necessary to remove contaminants from gas streams.
  • Textiles: Ethanolamines are widely used in the preparation of durable press fabric finishes such as cotton and other textiles with a high content of cellulosic fibres, as well as soaps used in scouring agents for wool and silks.
  • Concrete Admixture :Triethanolamine (TEA) is used as an intermediate for additives that control the rate at which water evaporates from drying concrete. It’s also used as a component in the formulation of cement grinding media during the manufacture of cement.

Along with the above, Ethanolamines are also used in adhesives, packaging and print, rubbers and agricultural chemicals.

Dow operates manufacturing plants in more than 150 countries and through its Sustainability External Advisory Council (SEAC) seeks to develop advanced technologies to develop sustainable practices for future generations. Redox and Dow have been in partnership since the early 1990’s. Redox used to be the local agent for Union Carbide until they were bought out by Dow in 2001. Since then Redox has been servicing the Australian market with Ethanolamines as one of Dows strategic suppliers.
