Redox is very proud to partner with BASF to bring their peerless Elastollan® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) range to clients throughout Australia.

Considered a material that falls between rubbers and plastics, Elastollan® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is an elastomer that softens when heated and solidifies when cooled. This makes it ideal for melt-processing manufacturing methods such as extrusion, moulding, vacuum-forming and solution-coating.

TPU has a unique molecular structure that provides good compression set and high resilience, along with resistance to impacts, abrasions, tears, weather and more. In addition, it can be formulated with either polyester or polyether segments for two different property sets.

BASF has been setting the benchmark for TPU quality and innovative formulations for more than 30 years. During this time, they have developed a well-deserved reputation for providing consistently excellent products and robust technical and customer service.

BASF has formulated Elastollan® to excel in all standard measures of TPU performance. Elastollan’s® unique physical qualities include the following:

• It offers increased elastic memory, hydrolytic stability, tear/cut resistance and abrasion resistance, as well as high burst pressure.
• It’s naturally anti-blocking and allows for a fast processing cycle.
• It requires little to no internal lubricant.
• In addition, Elastollan® is available in a wide range of formulations and hardnesses (from 50 A to 74 D), as well as in both polyester- and polyether-based forms.

Polyester-based Elastollan® typically provides:

• Oil/solvent resistance
• Weather (UV) resistance
• Abrasion resistance
• High-temperature resistance
• Particularly excellent mechanical properties
• Plasticizer-free, super-soft grades available

Polyether-based Elastollan® typically offers:

• Clarity
• Excellent hydrolytic stability
• Low-temperature flexibility
• Microbial resistance
• Resistance to weak acids/bases

Aliphatic-based Elastollan® typically supplies:

• Clarity
• Colour and UV stability
• Excellent hydrolytic stability

And because BASF is fully backward-integrated with global key raw materials and Elastollan® production facilities, they can offer unbeatable quality control and product development.
