Goat’s Milk powder is used by the personal care industry as a valuable and beneficial ingredient in many products including soaps, lotions, creams and cleansers. But what are it’s benefits and why are people choosing it over conventional skin care products?

Goat’s milk is made up of around 30% fatty acids, nearly double that of cow’s milk. One of the more significant differences from cow’s milk is the fat globules are 1/5th the size of those in cow’s milk. The natural high fat content makes it a good skin moisturiser, naturally hydrating the skin.

Goat’s Milk Powder contains many important vitamins and minerals including Vitamins A, B6, B12, E, Triglycerides, Capric, Caprylic, and Caproic acids. It also contains major and trace minerals including Ca, Na, Mg, P, K and Zn, Mn, Se, Co, Cu, Fe respectively. As well as being a natural emollient that helps soothe and moisturise the skin. It helps to improve the skin barrier function and soothe dry, sensitive skin.

The benefits of using goat’s milk powder in skincare formulation include:

  • Moisturising: Goat’s milk lotions and moisturisers have a soft and silky texture that is lightweight on your face and smooth to the touch. The natural high fat content makes it a good skin moisturiser. As an ingredient within beauty products, goat’s milk is also used to hydrate and nourish the skin. Vitamins B6 & B12 also aid in adding moisture. Triglycerides enhance skin elasticity and reinforce skin’s hydro-lipid barrier.
  • Balances Skin: Goat’s milk has a similar pH level to that of human skin, which means that using goat’s milk can help balance skin’s microbiome. The natural lactic acid found in goat’s milk make it an ingredient suitable for people prone to dry and irritated skin. In addition, goat’s milk is so gentle that it helps to calm troubled skin, making it a great choice for those with sensitive skin.
  • Helps with Skin Conditions: People with eczema, psoriasis, and other skin conditions that result in red, itchy, skin patches, often benefit from using goat’s milk products. The natural nutrients in the milk, which help to moisturise the skin, also aid in reducing redness and itchiness of the skin. Plus, it is gentle enough that it does not cause further irritation.
