Distributed by Redox, SUMIPEX® Labware Grade is a specialty grade of Polymethyl Methacrylate resin (PMMA), a transparent thermoplastic commonly known as acrylic, designed specifically for laboratory ware. Its high glass transition temperature and strength means that it is a versatile material, often used as a lightweight, shatter-resistant alternative to glass.

With a growing predisposition towards high performance polymers, particularly in the medical industry and laboratory applications, PMMA is a practical alternative over conventional polymers such as polycarbonate (PC) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Innovations in PMMA have resulted in properties such as UV tolerance, resistance towards lipids and phthalates, reliability and bio-compatibility.

The outstanding properties of SUMIPEX® Labware Grade include:

  • Unparalleled transparency and lustre
  • Excellent weather resistance
  • Unmatched surface hardness
  • Excellent electrical resistance
  • Superior mechanical property
  • Harmless to humans
  • Environmentally-friendly, easy to recycle

SUMIPEX® is the registered trademark of our manufacturing partner Sumitomo Chemical’s PMMA. As Asia’s largest integrated producer of Methyl Methacrylate, their plants allow vertical integration from raw material to products and customers. These state-of-the-art facilities enable Redox to deliver specific grades to customers to further advance the needs of various industry segments, and that valuable competitive edge.
