Common use-cases: Redox UAN is a commonly used nitrogen source for plants, a nutrient essential for photosynthesis, the process that drives energy production within the plant. It provides nitrogen in three forms: 10.5% as NO₃-, which is immediately available; 10.5% as NH₄+, which can be directly absorbed or converted to NO₃- by soil bacteria; and 21.5% as urea, which is hydrolysed by soil enzymes into NH₄+, eventually transforming into NO₃- under most soil conditions. It is commonly injected into the soil, sprayed onto the surface, applied in bands, or added to irrigation water.
