关于 Sodium Sulphate Anhydrous

Sodium Sulphate Anhydrous, also known as anhydrous sodium sulfate or salt cake, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Na₂SO₄. It appears as a white, crystalline powder or granular solid that is soluble in water. Sodium sulphate is produced from natural mineral deposits such as thenardite or mirabilite, or recovered as a byproduct from chemical manufacturing processes including hydrochloric acid production and rayon manufacturing. The anhydrous form contains no water of crystallization, distinguishing it from sodium sulphate decahydrate (Glauber’s salt).

Sodium Sulphate Anhydrous Uses

Detergents and Cleaning Products

Sodium sulphate is extensively used as a filler and processing aid in powdered laundry detergents, where it provides bulk, improves powder flow, and prevents caking during storage. It helps maintain the free-flowing characteristics of detergent powders and contributes to proper dissolution in wash water. The compound is also used in industrial and household cleaning formulations as a viscosity modifier and pH buffer.

Glass Manufacturing

In glass production, sodium sulphate serves as a fining agent that removes small air bubbles from molten glass, improving clarity and quality of the final product. It is used in manufacturing flat glass, container glass, and specialty glass products. Sodium sulphate also acts as a flux, helping to reduce the melting temperature of the glass batch and improving the homogeneity of the melt.

Textile Processing and Kraft Pulping

The textile industry uses sodium sulphate as a leveling agent in dyeing processes, particularly for reactive and direct dyes on cotton and other cellulosic fibers. It promotes uniform dye uptake, prevents uneven coloration, and controls the rate of dye exhaustion. In the kraft pulping process for paper production, sodium sulphate is added to the recovery system to make up for chemical losses and maintain the proper balance of sodium and sulphur in the cooking liquor.
