Redox recently attended the University of Wollongong’s annual STEM Careers Expo, joining more than 500 students and 28 leading industry and government employers from across Australia.
The event brought together students at all stages of their degree, from first-year students exploring career options through to final-year students seeking internships and graduate employment opportunities. It also provided a valuable opportunity for students to speak directly with employers, build industry connections and better understand the range of career pathways available after university.
Representing Redox on the day were members of our Sales and HR teams, who spoke with students about career opportunities within the chemical, ingredients and raw materials sector.
For many students, career decisions can feel uncertain, particularly when leaving university and preparing to enter the workforce. Redox Sales Representative Andrew Worth was able to speak candidly with students, drawing on his own experience of navigating the early stages of his career.
“I didn’t know for certain what I wanted to do when I left university, and it took me a few job changes to find the right career for me,” Andrew said. “But now that I am here, I couldn’t be happier.”

His story helped reassure students that career paths are not always linear, and that finding the right role often comes through experience, curiosity and a willingness to keep learning.
A key focus of Redox’s conversations on the day was introducing students to chemical and material sales, a STEM career pathway that is often less visible than academia, research or laboratory-based roles.
At Redox, sales roles combine technical knowledge, commercial thinking, customer relationships and exposure to a wide range of industries. Team members work closely with customers and suppliers, learning about manufacturing processes, chemical systems and supply chain requirements across sectors such as food and beverage, agriculture, health and nutrition, mining, water treatment, plastics and coatings.
Andrew also highlighted the benefits of working in sales at Redox, including the opportunity to build strong relationships with coworkers and customers, continue learning about unique industries and travel to customer sites to see real-world chemical applications in action.
UOW Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education), Professor Helen Partridge, said the expo played an important role in helping students build the skills, confidence and industry connections needed to transition into the workforce.
“By bringing students and industry together, we are helping create strong pathways into employment while supporting the talent needs of our partners across the region and beyond,” Professor Partridge said.
Redox would like to thank the University of Wollongong for hosting the event and for providing a valuable opportunity to connect with the next generation of STEM talent.
For students interested in a career that combines science, business, people and problem-solving, Redox offers a pathway that is both challenging and rewarding.
