The Redox Chemistry Scholarship for Women will offer support for five years to eligible female students undertaking a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) at Western’s School of Science, who may be experiencing financial hardship or personally challenging circumstances.

In establishing the scholarship, Redox has joined Western’s Friends of Western Sydney, a place-based movement backing the region’s future by investing directly in the people and workforce capability Western Sydney needs to thrive.

As a global chemical distributor with deep roots in the region, Redox recognises the importance of investing in education and helping develop the next generation of professionals who will shape the future of the chemical industry.

This scholarship has been created to help reduce barriers to study for female chemistry students while opening pathways to meaningful careers in science, research and industry. It also reflects Redox and Western Sydney University’s joint commitment to encouraging a broader range of perspectives and experiences across the sector.

By investing in local students, Redox is demonstrating the kind of regional leadership at the heart of Friends of Western Sydney: strengthening pathways between education, employment and industry, and supporting the workforce infrastructure of one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions.

“At Redox, we’ve seen firsthand the value that different perspectives bring to science, innovation and business,” said Raimond Coneliano, CEO, Redox. “This scholarship is about creating opportunities for talented young women to pursue chemistry and helping ensure our industry continues to benefit from the broadest possible pool of future scientists, researchers and leaders. We are delighted to play a small part in supporting their journey, and becoming a part of Friends of Western Sydney.”

Christian Burden, Executive Director, Advancement at Western Sydney University, expressed gratitude to Redox for its commitment to this partnership.

“Advocating for and facilitating equitable access to higher education is one of our strategic pillars here at Western. We thank Redox for recognising the potential of our students, empowering women in the field of science and chemistry,” said Christian.

“Scholarships such as this can be transformative in a student’s life and we are honoured Redox has chosen Western to support students in fulfilling their ambitions while investing in the future workforce of our region. This partnership captures the essence of Friends of Western Sydney, and we are happy to have Redox on board.”

Through this scholarship, Redox is investing in the next generation of female leaders in chemistry as they take their first steps on their academic journey.
